We are a women-led startup creating a new female birth control solution designed to be long-acting and side-effect-free
THE STANDARD OF BIRTH CONTROL TODAY
The birth control pill was developed in the 1950s.
The birth control pill was FDA approved in 1960. All hormone-based methods use the same mechanisms of action as “the pill,” and they can have the same side effects.
The copper IUD was FDA approved in 1984.
The first hormonal IUD was approved in 2000.
Half of pregnancies are unplanned.
30% of all maternal deaths result from unplanned pregnancies.
In 2010, the US government spent $21 billion on the births, abortions, and miscarriages that resulted from unplanned pregnancies.
Every highly effective birth control option can cause side effects.
All highly effective and reversible methods use hormones or copper. Hormones and copper can cause cause unwanted side effects.
50% of women stop using their birth control because they are unhappy with or cannot tolerate the side effects.
